City of David & Southern Wall Excavation

Walk through the Jerusalem of Tanach and discover the city of King David.

Pick up outside Mamilla mall

Service Description

Step back nearly 3,000 years and walk through the Jerusalem of Tanach. This immersive journey begins in the City of David, where we will uncover the remarkable story of how King David transformed Jerusalem from a small Jebusite city into the eternal capital of the Jewish people. As we explore the archaeological discoveries beneath modern Jerusalem, we will encounter the places where some of the most significant events in Jewish history unfolded. We will descend through Hezekiah's Tunnel, examine evidence of the First Temple period, and follow the Pilgrimage Road used by Jews ascending to the Beit HaMikdash. At the Davidson Center and Southern Wall Excavations, we will stand beside the very stones walked upon by our ancestors as they came to Jerusalem for the festivals. Throughout the day we will ask: Why did King David choose Jerusalem? Why was the Temple built here? What made this city the spiritual center of the Jewish nation? More importantly, we will see how archaeology and Tanach illuminate one another, bringing the biblical narrative to life in a way that cannot be experienced in the classroom alone.
