Route 60 just got renamed — and the new name says it all.The Israeli government has officially approved a historic initiative: Route 60, the highway stretching from Beer Sheva all the way to Afula, will now be called “Derech HaTanach” — The Bible Highway.

If you’ve never driven it, here’s why this matters. Route 60 is a 146-mile north-south route that closely follows the ancient “Derech HaAvot” — the Path of the Patriarchs — the very mountainous road walked by Avraham, Yitzchak, and Yaakov thousands of years ago. Along its path: Beer Sheva, Hebron, Rachel’s Tomb, Jerusalem, Shiloh, Shechem, Gilboa, Samaria, Megiddo, and the Tabor and Jezreel valleys — an almost unbelievable concentration of Torah and historical heritage sites strung together on one single road. This isn’t just a highway. It’s the spiritual spine of the Land of Israel.

This morning in Gush Etzion, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu attended the dedication ceremony for the renaming.

The initiative was spearheaded by former U.S. Ambassador to Israel David Friedman and pro-Israel activist Yishai Fleisher, with strong backing from former Secretary of State and CIA Director Mike Pompeo.
